Tim Dwight

Partner & Chief Executive Officer

What drives me every day is the opportunity to walk alongside our clients through the many chapters of their lives—celebrating milestones, navigating challenges, and serving as a trusted sounding board for the decisions that matter most. The dynamic nature of markets and the diverse lives of the people we serve keep the work endlessly engaging and deeply meaningful.

In a world where financial to-dos—rebalancing, tax planning, expense tracking, diversification—are often delayed or overlooked, our role is to bring clarity, discipline, and execution. We take the emotion out of investing, ensuring our clients stay focused on long-term goals while avoiding costly mistakes and tax missteps. It’s about being steady, objective, and always client-centered.

I began my career in finance in 1998 as a portfolio manager and analyst at a Houston-based advisory firm. Since then, I’ve worked with both institutional and individual clients and eventually founded SpringVest Wealth Management, a Registered Investment Advisor based in Fort Worth, Texas. That experience ultimately led me to Fireside Capital Advisors, where I am proud to lead a team committed to delivering personal, thoughtful wealth management.

Outside of the firm, I live in Dallas and am the proud father of Caroline and Christian. Community involvement is also a core value of mine—I’ve had the honor of serving on several nonprofit boards, including the University of North Texas Foundation, The Plano Symphony Orchestra, and The Senior Source. These opportunities have allowed me to give back to causes that align with both my personal and professional values.

Rebecca J. Wynne

Partner & Chief Operating Officer

Helping clients navigate their financial futures with trusted guidance, deep expertise, and empathy is at the heart of what I do. Growing up in Buffalo, NY, with a CPA father, I developed a strong foundation in financial responsibility early on—skills and values that continue to guide me today.

Now a Dallas resident for nearly 30 years, I’ve spent my entire career in financial services and banking, with over three decades of experience across various roles in the industry. The opportunity to join Fireside Capital Advisors was both unexpected and incredibly meaningful—a once-in-a-lifetime chance to become a partner in a firm I had long admired. As a Fireside client for five years before becoming a partner, I saw firsthand the care, collaboration, and dedication Tim and the team bring to every client relationship.

As Chief Operating Officer, I focus on delivering an exceptional client experience while overseeing the firm's day-to-day operations. I am passionate about ensuring our clients feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for at every step.

Beyond the firm, I’m deeply committed to community service. I served on the board of The Senior Source, a Dallas nonprofit serving older adults, for eight years, including a term as Board Chair. This organization holds a special place in my heart, and I was honored to be named a Lifetime Honorary Board Member following my board service.

J. Stephen Penner

Founding Principal

My path in finance began after earning a degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps. That experience instilled a lifelong commitment to discipline, integrity, and service—principles that have guided my career for more than four decades.

I began in the institutional sales department at Smith Barney & Co. in New York City, gaining invaluable exposure to capital markets over six formative years. I later returned to Texas to join the Lowry Consulting Group as an institutional investment consultant. In a pivotal chapter of my career, my colleagues and I acquired Lowry and established LCG Associates, Inc., where I served as Founder, Principal, and Director. Headquartered in Atlanta, LCG grew into one of the nation’s premier independent institutional consulting firms, advising more than 75 corporations, endowments, and foundations with over $90 billion in assets under advisement.

Throughout my tenure at LCG, I led engagements for some of the firm’s largest clients—each managing more than $500 million—delivering strategic advice rooted in objectivity and long-term thinking. After retiring from LCG in 2000, I founded FAMCO, Inc., to bring high-quality, unbiased investment services to smaller pension plans and foundations often overlooked by large firms.

Fireside Capital Advisors was founded in 2015 with that same mission of providing thoughtful, personalized financial guidance. Today, I draw on decades of institutional consulting experience to serve families, nonprofits, and foundations with care and insight.   My career continues to be driven by a passion for building lasting client relationships and delivering tailored financial solutions. It’s a privilege to carry that mission forward at Fireside Capital Advisors.

Mercedes B. Penner

Chief Administrative Officer

I focus on creating a seamless experience for our clients. Since joining the firm in 2016, I’ve worked closely with our advisors to support day-to-day operations, coordinate account administration, oversee reporting, and manage a wide range of service-related requests. My role is all about ensuring that the details are handled with care so our clients feel supported at every turn.

Originally from California, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Design Institute, where I developed a strong eye for detail, organization, and aesthetics. These strengths continue to shape the way I approach my work today, ensuring precision, professionalism, and warmth in every client interaction.

At Fireside, I’m proud to be part of a team that values trust, attentiveness, and high standards—and I’m committed to upholding those values every day.
